It is interesting “how” people approach golf improvement. In the early part of the season players often have a very positive attitude and believe they can improve their golf game. When done effectively with realistic commitment levels, determination and perseverance to match the needs for changes, the desired results are very rewarding. Unfortunately, many players are not ready mentally or physically to achieve the changes they desire.
There are two components for game improvement: target focused evaluation, and body focused evaluation. One is for playing golf and the other is for technical skill improvement.
When heading to the lesson tee, golfers are confronted with adjustments to the physical body movement to create better ball flight reliability. Our minds go from the external elements of visualization into the inner body awareness and movement. A clear understanding of mechanics, correct repetition of the movement and effective evaluation of this movement will show results, but not quickly. It is a process that does not show up on the golf course until a new habit is formed by constant repetition. If the physical body mechanics are required to change, be patient and persevere. It does not happen the day, week or even month of your golf lesson.
Give yourself time, and enjoy the learning process. Tiger Woods spent two years to make changes in his swing. And yes, he is now a better golfer now!
When you go to the course, stay in the target focused mind set and learn to accept your level of play during the round. Play one shot at a time and play within your own game skill set, you may find your enjoyment accelerates dramatically.
If you are committed to improvements, keep the technical thoughts away from the course, and simply play better with acceptance of the level you showed up with and prepared for. Remember to have fun!

The key to hitting crisp golf shots is acceleration through the ball. Accelerating will allow you to increase your swing speed with little effort.
To accelerate through the ball you do not want to feel as if your downswing is “rushed”. Rather, we want the golf club to start down slowly and gradually pick up speed.
The feeling that should be present is that the golf club is moving its fastest just after contact. Practice this acceleration and you’ll be hitting your driver longer and wedges crisper in no time at all.
